Basic Rules For Using Homemade Face Masks And Hair Masks

Basic Rules For Using Homemade Face Masks And Hair Masks

rules for using homemade face masksAlways make sure that any mask you use is suitable for your skin type. Even though our homemade masks are made with natural ingredients you still need to be careful.
Like any other product homemade masks may cause allergic reactions.

Allergy Test

If you are not sure about your skin’s reaction to the ingredients in any of our masks please make sure you do an allergy test.
This testing procedure can be done quickly.
  1. Make the mask as described
  2. Apply a tiny amount from the prepared mask on a small part of the skin. I suggest your elbow area.
  3. Wait 15 to 20 minutes.
  4. If during this time any signs of irritation appear on your skin do not risk it and get rid of the mask.

Ingredients

You must use good-quality fruit and vegetables that haven’t drastically changed in colour, or have a rotten smell when you sniff them.

Remove make-up & clean your skin

Before applying any masks, your skin must be clean with no remaining traces of make-up.
This not only helps with an efficient absorption of the mask’s nutrients but it also reduces the risk of an allergic reaction between the ingredients from the mask and the left over make up.

Careful round the eyes

Avoid the area around the eyes unless the mask is intended for this area of your face. The masks should always be spread from the centre of the face outward.

Don’t keep masks on too long

Any recommended duration should always be followed. A mask will not become any more effective by exceeding the specified amount of time, but on the contrary, can damage your skin.
Usually a mask should be kept on the skin between 15 and 20 minutes, if not stated otherwise.

Gently remove masks

Masks should be removed gently. Treat your skin with care to avoid any unexpected irritation.
Once the mask is completely removed, apply a suitable lotion or cream for your skin type.
For dry or sensitive skin use a nourishing lotion. If your skin is normal or oily, the mask can be rinsed with a tonic lotion.
By following my instructions you should be able to try out my masks and enjoy the benefits without fear of harmful side-effects or allergic reaction.
